The Lighthouse Mission has been serving our county since 1923. No one is barred from participating and they do not receive
money from the United Way. Its only financial source comes from private donations. This gives it the independence necessary
to meet the needs of the homeless.
The primary purpose of the Mission is to aid men who have fallen from being productive
members of society. Those seeking help come from all walks of life. Some of the problems they deal with are chemical dependency,
family breakups and war veterans who are scarred from the past.
The Mission provides food, clothing and shelter
to sustain the bodies of its participants. Having assisted people for more than three-quarters of a century, the Mission's
counselors have learned that long-term rehabilitation requires spiritual guidance. It is a Christian-based organization that
employs the teachings of the Bible in its efforts to mend the broken members of our community.
The Mission will
be providing Christmas dinners for all who come. During your preparations for the holiday festivities, please take a moment
to reflect on the plight of the homeless and consider sending a donation to the Lighthouse Mission (P.O. Box 548, Bellingham
