Give a child a Christmas present
As published in the Bellingham Herald on December 6th, 1998

The Salvation Army has set up Christmas trees in various business throughout the county.

These trees are decorated with little angels and tin soldiers. Written on these decorations are the names of children and Christmas gifts they would like to reveive.

We lived near poverty during my high school years. Our friends and neighbors helped us through this lean period. Since then, God has blessed me. My Christian beliefs say that we should help those who are in need and that their children should receive a present from those who have received God's blessings.

It has been my tradition to choose a little angel or devil, uh, I mean tin soldier, each Christmas. It is my belief that every child should attend school bundled up in a warm coat during the harsh winter months.

Please consider giving a child a Christmas present this year through the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots or other charitable organization.
