The Disney company has decided to extend medical benefits to domestic partners. Fifteen Florida legislators have signed a
letter condemning this decision.
Most people demand equal rights, not special rights, for sexual minorities. To
grant medical benefits to marital spouses while denying those same benefits to domestic partners advocates special rights
for heterosexuals while denying equal rights to sexual minorities.
Quality medical care is expensive. To deny medical
benefits to anyone is to, economically, deny them proper medical care, thereby contributing to a decline in their health and
life expectancy.
It is not in the best interests of our society to contribute toward the loss of health of any segment
of our community.
